MAJOR DIGITAL ARTWORK | VISUALISATION

Mad World | Photo Collage with digital manipulation | Visualization
The aim of the project was to create a digitally manipulated visual artwork inspired by a song that I feel is connected to in some way while considering the mood and feel, emotion, lyrics and instruments used in the song. I have chosen to work with "Mad World" by Imagine Dragons, reflecting the times we live in today. The mood of the song can be described as quiet, somber and gloomy. My intention was to create a collaged artwork of people living in the world today with COVID-19. Isolation and depression, disconnection and solitude are everywhere in society today, affecting daily lives. We live in artificial environments where even the air that we breathe needs to be filtered through masks. Schools and businesses are closed down, human connections can only be made through digital screens. Even nature is artificially recreated. The bleak future that we had imagined is here and we must find a way to navigate through this world.
The collage was formed by an assortment of digital photographs around Singapore including Gardens by the Bay, Vivo City and Shanton Way. The glass sculptures in the images are by artist Dale Chihuly from the exhibition: Glass in Bloom. To enhance the layering of the image, an attribute-free photograph of a supernova was used. The artist would like to credit pinterest.com for that image.
